Pathetic customer service.
I took my kids to the North Cape Mall today so they can buy something with money they received at Christmas.
When my 8 year old son took took out his money to pay the cashier told us they do not accept 5c coins. Without being rude at all I replied that it is legal tender in South Africa and they are required to accept it. Her stance was just that they don’t. She called over a manager which I told the same. She just replied with a blank stare. I again, nicely, explained to her that if you do business in South Africa you are required to except legal tender, which a 5 cent coin is. Again the only feedback was another blank uninterested stare.
To avoid further hassle I just took out money from my wallet to replace the 5 sent coins.
Good day, Please accept our sincerest apologies for the unacceptable service received in our store, We have brought this to the area managers attention who would like to urgently contact you directly, please mail your details to sport@mrpricegroup.com
We eagerly await to further assist you.
Many Thanks
Mr. Price Sport.
Just received a call from a Store Mananger at Mr Price Sport. The gentleman apologized for the incident on behalf of Mr Price Sport and that Mr Price Sport do accept 5c coins and that the the staff have been advised to do so. Further that the way in which the staff handled the incident was not acceptable and that will also receive attention.
Thank you Mr Price for sorting out the problem.
PS: The issue I had was not so much about the 5c coins but rather with the uninterested no care attitude of the staff at the time.
