Company OverviewGATO was established on 31 January 2009 and only incorporated on 15 Feb 2010. Members of the company have extensive experience in theatre, film and finance. Presently the company has two directors on its board namely,Moagi Modise(Creative Director) and Phemelo Sediti(Finance Director).Directors are assisted by Nkululeko Gqozo(Stage Manager) and Mbuyiselo Xesi(Assistant Stage Manager/Sound).
DescriptionIt is technically a touring company with a target market that is provinical,national and international.After a production has been mooted,it will be mounted on a seasonal basis on stages aforementioned.
General InformationGATO was formed on the realisation for the need of cultural re-awakening, and the need to make a positive contribution to the tourism sector in our province which we feel has not been sufficiently exploited. In a community dominated by unemployment, alcohol abuse, crime and despondency there is a strong need for this kind of an endeavour. We have continuously discovered that violent crimes are committed during alcoholic binges, by younger people of between 14 and 25. Furthermore these young people engage in casual sex as a past time, both consensual and non-consensual, which does not help in the fight against HIV/AIDS and teenage pregnancies. This ultimately promotes promiscuity and recklessness.Basic Info
