My family member is admitted in this hospital… I’m far away from Kimberley and the only way to make contact is by telephone. How can a phone be engaged from 08:00 am to 12:00 mid day. It is difficult not to know about the status of a loved one who is admitted in this hospital.

I’m very disturbed by the kind of treatment my son is currently getting from this health facility.
He was admitted on Monday and since now no one take his condition seriously.how I wish that one had enough money to seek for better help and treatment somewhere else.
I’m just praying that God must help my son to pull through and help those health care workers to take their job serious and love it

KH or Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe what ever you call it now….. we need answers…… a very deep story which the staff of this hospital is with holding from the family….. a family member of mine was pregnant, the local hospital in pmg sent her to KH with healthy scans of her baby she needed an emergency c-section because of bleeding… ever since the birth she never seen her baby they told her the baby has a hole in the tummy which she never had on the sonar…… the Doctor who performed the C-section is nowhere to be found and the scans from her file has disappeared… this hospital is a disgrace it was never like this in the Past you spend millions on changing the name but the patients r deteriorating….. Its very sad…

I write this review with sadness rather than disgust. A particular so called senior nurse who goes by the name Tshidi at ward L3 has been tasked to take care of our loved ones who by no choice of their own find themselves sick and unable to care for themselves. My dad has been admitted to hospital on Monday with Covid and Tshidi has been so rude and dismissive when we call for an update on our loved one’s condition. Instead of putting us at ease, knowing that they are being taken care of she tells us not to call because she has no time to explain to family members. Such arrogance and insentive! Please note this is after she has called our mother telling her that our father is not doing well. No one has ever called her today enquiring about the condition of our father. We understand the pressures and sacrifices made by our medical personnel and support staff during the pandemic and appreciate their invaluable work. How someone can be so called when dealing with people is absolutely beyond me. The doctors are amazing and I am almost 100% sure that there are wonderful nurses in the hospital. Why do we tolerate people like Tshidi to work as a health professional? All we need from her is to treat our loved ones with dignity and respect and to do what she is being paid to do. Can someone please tell me how I can get information about my father? That is all we as families wish and ask for, to know that our loved ones are getting the best possible treatment available…..
My dad passed away on the 6th of May 2021 and am yet to receive a call from the hospital even after writing this review. How is it possible that we can be treated like this and no one cares to do something about the situation at this hospital? My father passed away and was strapped to a bed in a time when he needed love, compassion and quality health care. Really sad and unfortunate….

My dad, John Edwin Carey was admitted to Kimberley Hospital in January 2021!
I am in awe and lost for words how Dr. Beyers took care of my dad, he Dr. Beyers in these busy, trying times of the pandemic took time to call us the family and called from time to time and tell us about my dad’s condition.
Even when he assured us that my dad was on his last days, he called us on Saturday morning the 30th January and told us the family to bring my dad in for admission but sadly he passed on at home at 11am less than 2 hours when Dr. Beyers spoke to us!
All I can say from the bottom of the Carey Family, May the good lord continue to bless and protect dedicated, passionate, committed, front line people like Dr. Beyers!
A true epitome of the Batho Pele principle!
What Dr. Beyers has done May you live a hundred more years to safe the world!
Thank you and thank you!

I am very disappointed in Robert Sobukwe Hospital, I have tried for months to get an appointment for the Orthopedic Clinic, no one picks ups, the call gets reverted back to switchboard.
They put me through with no luck.
I have been put through to Recoveries dept where they confirmed the Orthopedic clinic is open on a Monday and Wednesday, I have tried for months just to speak to someone in that department, but to no avail.
I have asked where I could lay a complaint and they transferred me to the Unit Manager whom does not even answer her phone, so what example is she putting for the hospital.
If the government is the only way one can see a doctor for one’s knee, what else is to be done.
Your service sucks, hire me, I will pick up your phone and show how it supposed to be done.

I was operated on 24 October 2019 for an inguinal hernia, (this was a potentially life threatening situation). I had a very positive experience as a whole, apart from the water crises which affects the Hospital which is not the fault of this institution. These Doctors work around the clock with much dedication and utmost professionality.
I received the best possible care both at Surgery and in the Ward for which I am incredibly grateful for. In fact the Doctors at the Surgical Department were extra attentive and genuinely cared for my wellbeing.

The poorest service I have seen in my life, been here since 07:30 my father came for chemo he’s on a wheelchair, was out on a bed at 09:00 & at 14:00 still hasn’t seen a dr. Patients that came after us have been seen & gone! This is utter rubbish!!! Jus because someone is on a wheelchair then he’s subjected to bullshit service!

My name is Prudence Jantjies. My daughter was admitted on 3rd July 2020 at the hospital in a critical condition from a private institution. She was received by Dr Singh and team of Gynaecologists.
The Head of the hospital had to be involved in her case, because she was so sick and unco-operative. A big thank you for the involvement of the Head of the Institution. Thank you for involving the Social Worker and the rest of the team that was on standby.
Dr Singh and team, thank you,for your patience and committment,I salute you.
I am not sure it which ward Millicent was admitted initially,I think it was K5. I wish to thank the staff who were taking care of her.
A few days later my daughter was moved to Y1,where she stayed for 2 weeks. It was a very diffucult time. I thought I was going to be childless, she being my only child, but God is faithful.
Thank you to the nursing staff of Y1. Thank you for your committment, dedication, love and prayers. Mr Peme,Sr Louw,Sr Moreme,Sr Hamerse-the friendly PN who always answered the phone with a smile,Sr Jantjies and all the staff members of Y1. I also wish to say thank you to the non-nursing staff. Thank you to the cleaning staff and kitchen staff.
I would also like to thank the High care and ICU staff where my daughter stayed for a few days.
Last, but not least, thank you to Sr Corneliuson and staff in L5. The last ward where my daughter was finally discharged on the 28th July.
If I had to give the hospital and staff a rating out of 10,you will score 11. The extra 1 point,is the the xtra mile.
To the Dr who prayed for her:Good morning and win today
Thank you staff of Robert Sobukwe hospital for excellent service rendered.
Regards
Prudence Jantjies,a very happy mom.

Ek wil net weet. Ek skaam my vir julle sekuriteit want dit is n klug.

I accompanied a patient to the general surgery department and was met with several staff members praising the Lord. This remarkable encounter did not just lift the spirit of all the patients and staff, but also ministered to me. These staff members are bridge builders amidst a difficult profession, I salute you. I have been waiting for 11 hours in order to see a doctor at the Gateway Centre.
I complained twice to the Manager who then consulted the doctors in said centre and each time was told that my file is on top and I will be called next.
I am still waiting.
I came here hoping that they could provide me services that my local clinic and hospital could not.
I don’t see how any services can be rendered when you are not even called. Disregarded and dismissed by the doctors on duty.
7 December 2018
Been here from 6:38 am.
I would not rate them even one star as there is no service from doctors.
Please note: My complaint is about Doctors, those who undertook the Hippocratic oath.

After a 7 month absence due to me spending 6.5 months of that period in another hospital I showed up at my usual clinic sister only to be told ”You know full well i ONLY see you on Thursdays and only on those Thursdays that you have appointments for”. I was not given any chance to say anything as the involved staff member promptly turned around and left after that little public service announcement.
Admittedly I was there on the ”wrong” day of the week but due to circumstances I am dependent on the goodwill of others to get me to the clinic and back and therefor have to go whenever there’s an opportunity.
I live 80km from Kimberley so every trip is a 160km round trip to get see a ”professional” nurse for less than 2 minutes….I am wondering if said nurse will sponsor my 320km round trip petrol just because she’s got an unprofessional attitude…I think not.
Something needs to be done to address that kind of attitude since it seems the staff involved run their ”kingdoms” worse than some historic dictators i can think of.
As for my rating (overall and individually): I am only giving it 1 out of 5 because that’s the only way I can post this review…the real rating is zero out of 5.

Good evening,
Sir my brother Md sabir hossain admitted in your hospital.please can i know what is condition of my brother.thanks
Baie swak diens by ongevalle.
My name is Deon van Zyl. I suffered chest pains and decided to get help at the Kimberley Hospital. After waiting whatt felt like an eternity things started speeding up tremendously. Within an hour an ecg was done and chest x-rays taken. A team of Drs attended to me and it was decided that I be admitted. I arrived in the ward and was welcomed by a very friendly nursing sister who was very professional and helpful. Sure, there was very little linen, but I expected that.
I spent more than a week in ward M1 and could not have asked for better treatment. Not one of the personel were abusive or unfriendly in any way what so ever.
The only bit of negativity is the male toilets and bath facilities. For the rest I will gladly rate ward M1 with 5 stars.
The mission of the Northern Cape Department of Health is to provide quality health care services; promote a healthy, caring and responsible society; and offer caring, multi-skilled professionals who will integrate comprehensive services, using evidence-based care strategies and partnerships to maximise efficiencies for the benefit of all.
Thus reads the mission statement of the dept of Health for Northern Cape…Mr Richard Jones and Mr G Moncho, I challenge you to walk through the corridors of the Kimberly hospital and judge whether there is anything close to what is promised above. Your hospital smacks of the worst kind of neglect, none of the equipment works, patients are left to suffer- asking a nurse for help brings the response …’its not my job’,. How would you feel if your 86 year old relative lay for 4 weeks with a broken hip without being operated on, in excrutating pain and near starving because the food is so bad- to watch a loved one suffer as nurses simply sit at the nursing station not a care that the place is filfthy and patients are in pain is heart breaking. Not once did I see a single nurse attend to a patient the entire weekend! Not to mention the theft that goes on, to have an 86 year old man who has a broken hip and cannot move have his only shoes and pants as well as what tiny money he has stolen is worse than a travesty- it simply defies all that should be human with any health care worker or hospital
The people of the Northern cape deserve better of their Health department, their nurses or doctors and the people in management and nurses should bow their heads in shame that they collect salaries for what happens in this shameful place
I challenge a response and action to this mail…I wonder if anyone of you or your staff even take the Hippocratic oath even seriously or are is it that poor people’s lives simply don’t count

This place deserves to be shut down, was waiting to be attended and was flagged yellow, which means I was supposed to be attended to within 4 hours, after about five hours of waiting and 1 person dieing I wanted to follow up with the progress of our file, one inconsiderate @ss blunty and rudely said they will not tell me how many patients is scheduled to go before us, I mean just because its a free service that doesn’t mean they should treat people like animals. Guess we have to die before we get attended to.
Swakste hospitaal ooit diens swak somige staff kan nie eens werk ordentlik doen nie kon nie skoon lakens oortrek nie. Was 2 dae sonder kos. Toilette was bemors vir 3 dae sonder skoon maak.
Swakste diens ooit mense le op beddens in gang by recovery room sonder lakens dae sonder water geen rating die personeel onvriendelik glad nie behulpsaam nie staat moet iets doen aan sulke swak diens
4 months ago I was admitted to this hospital. this being the first gov hospital I’ve ever been admitted to I’d like to thank all the staff. being a nurse myself I understood the pressure u guys work under. in the maturity and obstetric wards, the doctors were helpful and well trained but have no respect for patients, no patient confidentiality. K3 nurses and doctors very well trained, helpful and very professional. if all staff at kimberley hospital complex can take a few tips from the staff in K3. the hospital will soon be the best government hospital.
This hospital sucks because it is being run by incompetent people who were put there for political reasons rather than merit. The Dental Clinic is the absolute worst ’cause the Pakistani guy heading it is not only incompetent but also has a private clinic just across the road, where he spends most of his time, while collecting a full salary from KHC. He knows nothing about proper infection control and has an awful rapport with patients, usually condescending and uncaring. His wife, who is not even a dentist, was somehow able to get a job as a dentist in the same place and they both get paid for overnight calls yet hardly ever come out when called. The wife, as is to be expected, can barely do any proper dental treatments properly. These facts have been brought to the hospital administration many times but to no avail.
