The Northern Cape Economic Development, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency commenced its operations as from 01 April 2010. The agency was established in terms of the Northern Cape Economic Development, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency Act no.4, of 2008 as a response to the challenge of translating high level investment and business opportunities in the area into actual business operations that may contribute directly to economic growth and social equity for the people of the Northern Cape.
The Premier, Mrs. Hazel Jenkins has named the agency NCEDA, by proclamation in the Provincial Gazette dated 17 May 2010.
According to the agency act, NCEDA should consist of an economic development unit and a trade & investment promotion unit.
