  • PLEASE NOTE: Steve Lunderstedt no longer organises any Ghost Tours, ONLY normal tours.

Your guide on all tours is Steve Lunderstedt, registered SA specialist tourist guide for South African battlefields and local Kimberley and Northern Cape guide, historian and author.

Born in Umtali, Rhodesia (now Mutare, Zimbabwe) in 1956, Steve was originally a compositor (printer) by trade, completing his apprenticeship at the Umtali Post in 1979. Transferred to the Diamond Fields Advertiser in Kimberley in June 1980, he severed his links with the newspaper industry while as an advertising representative on 31 December 1988, taking up the position of Kimberley Golf Club manager/secretary. This lasted until March 1992 when he left to start his own business in marketing, catering, writing and other myriad interests including tourist guiding.

The tourist guiding was an automatic follow-up after being fascinated with Kimberley and region history since his arrival in 1980. He had conducted “illegal” free tours from the mid 1980s, particularly on the local battlefields, but was persuaded to become “legal” by 1992.
He has 29 publications to his name, on such diverse subjects as Cecil Rhodes, the history of CBC Kimberley, Kimberley Murders, the history of the Kimberley Golf Club, and Sol Plaatje. He also wrote “Belmont to Bloemfontein” about the actions of the Anglo-Boer war in the region and co-authored with Garth Benneyworth “Magersfontein Revisited”, an updated history of that famous battle.
Most knowledgeable on the Anglo-Boer war 1899-1902 he has visited on research or tours the majority of the actions throughout the country.
He has also lectured extensively on the Anglo-Boer war, Kimberley, Cecil Rhodes, and the history of the Diamond Fields in France, England, Scotland and all around South Africa.
